Ritual meant for well-being of State, people
Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao commenced the Sahasra Chandi Yagam under the aegis of Sharada Peetadhipathi Sri Swarupanandendra Saraswathi Swamy of Visakhapatnam at his Yerravalli farm house in Siddipet district on Monday.
Mr. Rao and his wife commenced the five-day Yagnam at the specially erected Yagashala under the guidance of Sri Vyasoju Gopi Krishna Sharma of Sri Ubhaya Bharathi Vidya Peetam of Hyderabad, Tangirala Sitarama Shastry of Srungeri Peetham of Karnataka, Madugula Manikya Somayajulu and Rigveda pundits Narendra Papre and other prominent pundits.
The Yagam is being performed in accordance with the Vedic rituals for the overall well-being of people, successful continuation of welfare and development initiatives, abundant rains with bountiful produce. The Chief Minister and his wife also prayed for the welfare of the country.
About 300 Ritviks initiated the Yagam with a special ‘havan’ of 1,000 ‘modaks’ . Chief Minister and his wife first went around the Yagna Vatika amidst the Vedic chanting by the Ritviks followed by several rituals like Go puja, Guru puja. The Chief Minister and his wife spent about three hours offering special pujas and also offered their respects to the elderly couples.
State Legislative Council Chairman Swamy Goud, Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy, Home Minister Mahmood Ali, TRS Secretary General K.Kesavarao, Medak MP Prabhakar Reddy, several MLAs and family members of the Chief Minister participated in the programme. The Yagam will be concluded with Purnahuti on January 25 afternoon.
